Biography

Claire is a loose realistic painter who has always been inspired by beautiful objects and a love for our ever-changing environment. She addresses this love by expressing a vibrant use of colour and executes her skill, techniques and ability over what seems an endless range of subjects. Her passion is expressed in a loose graphic way which draws the eye into her work, creating intrigue for the viewer.

Claire's painterly skills have been honed into expression with many mediums. Her fascination of oils with acrylics and mixed media have led to creating some clever and wonderful effects on her exciting compositions, in what seems an endless range of subjects.

Claire began her career in fashion and advertising as a writer and visualiser. A few years later she started her own business incorporating interior design. She studied Decorative.Paint Finishes in London. This led to designing and producing decorative furniture and accessories for the retail market as well as larger installations for designer homes. She taught for many years the art of paint finishes and became a skilled trompe l’oeil artist. She has an impressive list of private and commercial clients.

In 2000 Claire decided to concentrate on developing her visual arts creativity. She started painting on paper in watercolours & gouache and eventually focussed on oils, using acrylics and mixed media to create special effects. 

Her feelings are beautifully expressed in dramatic displays of massive flora and fruits, amazing water reflections, seascapes, landscapes, boats, still life and portraiture including pets and wild life fauna.

Claire's work is represented in private collections here in Australia and overseas.

Claire loves imparting her knowledge and skills to small groups of students. She runs classes and workshops on the Mornington Peninsula.

Claire also loves painting Commissions and has completed many beautifully.
